Infrastructure & Transportation
Advocate for federal investments to modernize roads, bridges, rail crossings, flood mitigation, broadband, and public transit while ensuring Illinois' 2nd Congressional District receives its fair share of infrastructure funding.
Education & Workforce Development
Support strong public schools, career and technical education, apprenticeship programs, workforce training, and expanded access to higher education that prepares students for today's economy.
Federal Grant Funding
Fight to secure and protect federal grants for local governments, schools, nonprofits, public safety, infrastructure, healthcare, and community development. Ensure taxpayer dollars approved for our communities are delivered transparently and without unnecessary delays.
Small Business & Economic Growth
Champion policies that help entrepreneurs and small businesses access capital, reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens, create jobs, revitalize commercial corridors, and strengthen local economies.
Public Safety & Criminal Justice Reform
Support law enforcement while advancing evidence-based prison reform, rehabilitation, mental health and substance use treatment, vocational training, successful reentry programs, and initiatives that reduce recidivism and improve public safety.
Affordable Housing & Community Development
Promote investments that increase affordable housing, revitalize neighborhoods, reduce homelessness, and expand access to safe, stable housing for working families and seniors.
Healthcare & Mental Health
Work to improve access to affordable healthcare, expand mental health services, strengthen behavioral health resources, and support quality care for children, seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
Veterans & Seniors
Honor our commitments to veterans by improving access to healthcare, housing, employment opportunities, and earned benefits while protecting Social Security and Medicare for seniors.
Government Accountability
Promote transparency, fiscal responsibility, and ethical leadership. Ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly and that government remains accountable to the people it serves.
Environmental action
**Environmental Justice First**
Every family deserves clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment, regardless of their race, income, or ZIP code. I will advocate for federal policies that prioritize communities that have historically carried a disproportionate burden of pollution. This includes supporting investments that reduce toxic emissions near homes, schools, parks, and places of business while ensuring environmental laws are enforced fairly and consistently.
**Clean Water & Flood Protection**
Illinois' 2nd Congressional District deserves resilient infrastructure that protects families, businesses, and neighborhoods from flooding. I will work to secure federal investments for modern stormwater systems, flood mitigation projects, green infrastructure, wetland restoration, and waterway improvements that strengthen communities and safeguard drinking water throughout the district.
Communities in the Calumet region, Will County, and other parts of Illinois' 2nd Congressional District have faced ongoing challenges related to aging infrastructure, flooding, and water quality. Addressing these issues requires long-term federal partnerships that improve public safety, protect public health, and support sustainable economic growth.
**Clean Energy & Community Resilience**
Support responsible investments in energy efficiency, resilient infrastructure, and modern technologies that strengthen the electric grid, lower long-term costs, create good-paying jobs, and help communities prepare for extreme weather while protecting our natural resources.
**Federal Environmental Investment**
Fight for federal grants that help local governments replace aging water mains, modernize wastewater systems, improve drinking water infrastructure, remediate contaminated land, expand green spaces, and complete critical environmental restoration projects throughout Illinois' 2nd Congressional District.
Education reform
Every child deserves access to a high-quality education, regardless of their ZIP code. I believe education is one of the strongest investments we can make in our future. As your representative, I will advocate for federal policies that expand educational opportunities, strengthen our schools, and ensure every student has the resources they need to succeed.
**Support Students with Disabilities**
I will fight to fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) so schools have the federal resources needed to provide students with disabilities the services, accommodations, and individualized support they are legally entitled to receive.
**Support Our Educators**
Strong schools begin with strong teachers. I support policies that help recruit and retain qualified educators by encouraging competitive teacher pay, expanding professional development opportunities, reducing classroom resource shortages, and investing in the educators who shape the next generation. I also support efforts to increase beginning teacher salaries to at least $55,000 through partnerships with states and local school districts.
**Career & College Readiness**
Expand access to career and technical education, apprenticeships, STEM programs, and affordable higher education so students are prepared for college, skilled trades, military service, or the workforce.
**Safe & Modern Schools**
Advocate for federal investments that modernize school facilities, improve technology and broadband access, enhance school safety, and create learning environments where every student can thrive.
**Educational Equity**
Work to ensure that every student, regardless of income, disability, or community, has access to quality educational opportunities, effective teachers, and the tools necessary to achieve their full potential.
Community development
Strong communities don't happen by chance, they are built through strategic investment, local leadership, and partnerships that put people first. As families face rising housing costs, aging infrastructure, economic uncertainty, and public safety concerns, Congress must help ensure that communities have the federal resources they need to grow and thrive.
As your representative, I will work to secure federal funding for neighborhood revitalization, infrastructure improvements, affordable housing, brownfield redevelopment, public transportation, broadband expansion, and community facilities. I will support public-private partnerships that create good-paying jobs, strengthen local economies, and encourage responsible investment without displacing long-time residents.
I believe economic development should reach every corner of Illinois' 2nd Congressional District, from Chicago's South Side to the south suburbs and the rural communities of Kankakee and Will Counties. That means investing in Main Street businesses, expanding workforce development opportunities, supporting first-time homeownership, improving parks and community spaces, and ensuring families have access to safe neighborhoods, reliable transportation, quality healthcare, and educational opportunities.
Community development is about more than constructing buildings, it's about creating opportunity. Together, we can build stronger neighborhoods, attract new investment, protect existing communities, and ensure that every resident has the opportunity to live, work, raise a family, and succeed right here in Illinois' 2nd Congressional District.
Civic engagement
A strong democracy depends on an informed and engaged public. I believe every eligible citizen should have the opportunity to participate in the democratic process and make their voice heard.
As your representative, I will encourage civic engagement by supporting voter registration efforts, expanding access to nonpartisan civic education, and helping residents better understand how to participate in local, state, and federal elections. An informed electorate strengthens our communities and helps ensure government remains accountable to the people it serves.
I also support transparency in our election systems so voters can have confidence in the electoral process. This includes advocating for clear election procedures, public accountability, voter education, and open communication about voter identification requirements and other election laws so every eligible voter understands their rights and responsibilities before casting a ballot.
Our democracy is strongest when people are informed, engaged, and empowered to participate. Together, we can build a culture of civic responsibility where every eligible voter has the knowledge, confidence, and opportunity to make their voice count.
